Work of Wayland Baptist University Senior Featured in International Graphic Design Publication | KAMR
PLAINVIEW, Texas (KAMR / KCIT) – A Wayland Baptist University senior will be leaving college in December after one of his infographics was selected for an internationally renowned graphic design publication.
According to a press release from the university, Anna Epp, a graphic design student from Balko, OK, created an infographic about the space race, which was ultimately selected for publication in the 64th edition of Creative quarterly, an internationally renowned graphic design and illustration magazine based in New York City.
According to the statement, Epp was one of eight selected winners in the student graphic design category, joining fellow students Allyson Vinson and Madeline Alison in the selection of pieces for the publication Creative Quarterly.
The space race infographic that Epp created was originally for his Graphic Design 2 course, taught by Dejan Mraovic. Epp said in the statement that she has always been interested in the space race.
In the infographic, Epp compared the Russian and American space programs in a variety of ways, including the size of the space shuttles and the amount of money each government has invested in the race. Epp also included the timeline of events that happened in the space race.
“I did a lot of research on it to find interesting things that people might not know, or things that they hadn’t considered,” Epp said in the statement. “It was just fascinating.”
Mraovic praised Epp for his efforts in the mission, encouraging him to submit the infographic for consideration for publication. In the statement, he said the goal of the assignment was to create a visually appealing infographic for a book, magazine or website.
“In this article, she recognized the efforts of the two nations and the important contributions to the entire human race,” Mraovic said in the statement. “Anna presents the information accurately and objectively, without favoritism anyway. “
The Epp poster will be published both online and in the print magazine, and the print piece will soon be available to order.
