Veteran magazine editor Sara Austin takes over at Northforker


Sara Austin, a seasoned New York City publishing industry writer, has joined Times Review Media Group as Northforker’s Editorial Director.

Austin, who lives in Greenport and New York, brings with her a wealth of publishing background. She starts her new job this Monday July 13th.

Austin was most recently editor-in-chief of Real Simple magazine, overseeing a team of 25 people. In this role, she has helped shape editorial strategy, edit articles and create themes in areas such as home, food, health, travel and parenting.

She was previously Senior Associate Editor of Cosmopolitan Magazine, where she assigned celebrity profiles and represented the magazine at a multitude of live events and meetings with business leaders.

During her magazine career, she was reporting director for Self magazine, news editor at Marie Claire and editor-in-chief of Civilization magazine.

She graduated from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Grant Parpan will serve as Content Director in the news and lifestyle areas, as well as overseeing the company’s digital capabilities and strategies.
