Muse Elementary Featured in Publication Honoring Excellence in Educational Design | Living in Washington County

Muse Elementary School has been selected for publication in the 2021 American School & University Architectural Portfolio, as announced by HHSDR Architects and Engineers. The project is featured in the November/December 2021 issue of the magazine and online at SchoolDesigns.com. An annual competition rewarding excellence in education design, the Architectural Portfolio highlights projects representing today’s most effective learning environments.

A jury of members of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Architecture for Education Committee and education administrators evaluated submissions from architectural firms, schools and universities Across the country. Ninety-four projects were chosen for publication in AS&U, a magazine for educational institutions, purchasing and business administration, reaching 57,000 institution planners, school and university administrators and architects with this number. This is the 39th edition of the competition.

To guide their assessments of the designs, the jurors paid particular attention to these criteria:

  • The beauty that inspires joy
  • Seamless integration of interior and exterior
  • Promotes collaboration, community and active learning
  • Shows innovation throughout
  • Durability
  • Economic
  • Health and security
  • High quality construction
