EDITOR’S COMMENT SEPTEMBER 2021: FACE TO FACE TO PHEX
This is an edited version of the editor’s commentary for our September 2021 issue.
As of this writing, ‘Freedom Day’, when the vast majority of the remaining COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted in the UK, already looks like a distant memory. Although there were initially fears that the virus would reappear once we have all opened our doors, so far the vaccination program fortunately seems to have done its job and we seem firmly on the way back to normalcy.
As a welcome sign, the 2021/22 Premier League season has begun, with no limit on the number of match participants for the first time since the start of the pandemic. It has been great seeing the fans in the stands again, and I hope some of you have already had the chance to start watching football in person again.
Of course, Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge have already hosted full capacity football crowds, but the venues will also welcome the plumbing and heating community once again to the PHEX series of exhibitions later this year.
Thousands of plumbers and heating engineers will take part in PHEX Manchester, which runs October 6-7, and PHEX Chelsea, November 17-18. If you want to learn more about some of the newest products and innovations on the market, then PHEX is the place to be.
PHEX is the perfect event to make sure you’re up to date with the latest technology in the plumbing and heating industry, but let’s not forget that shows will also be some of the first opportunities (especially if you live north or south of the Midlands) for industry to come together after the pandemic.
While many of you are working solo or in small teams, many of you will have industry friends, in other parts of the country, as the jokes on social media certainly show! This year’s PHEX shows should be well positioned to offer a number of long-awaited industry-wide meetings – for one, I look forward to meeting readers and industry colleagues again afterwards. a long absence.
We get a snapshot of what’s happening at PHEX Manchester on page 14 of this issue, but for more information, including our new COVID-19 security protocols, as well as to register to attend the shows, please visit go to phexshow.co.uk. I look forward to seeing you there.
